In the Light

Mary Lancer lives with her family in a society strictly governed by the patriarchal, totalitarian laws of the Church Essential Enlightenism. People are positioned in society by their occupation as displayed in the color of the jumpsuits they are forced to wear. As high school graduation nears, Mary discovers that she has inherited the gift of psychic sight from a father she never knew who was executed as a traitor to the church just after she was born. Some deemed him as divine and believe in the prophecy that his daughter would bring peace and harmony to humanity. Mary’s mother, Valencia, secretly has been plotting to overthrow the Church in part to protect her daughter from the same deadly fate that befell Mary’s father. Just as Valencia’s plans start to come to fruition, Mary falls in love with an outcast and marries a reverend upsetting her mother’s plans to keep her safe. Mary then must embark on a journey to change the course of history and fulfill her destiny.
